I’ve been making a list, and yes checking it twice…..but
this list is a bit different; this list is comprised of Ministers I either have
watched on TV or heard on the radio. The list features their name, the topic of
their message, the passages they preach or teach from.
Truly, for the most part, the Prophetic books of the Old
Testament are widely ignored, especially the “minor prophets”, but there are New
Testament Books that are often ignored also; One of those would be the Epistle
of Jude.
Well I began to read Epistle of Jude, and today got as far
as verse 4. Here’s verses 3 & 4:
[3] Beloved, when I
gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful
for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for
the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. [4] For there are certain men crept in unawares,
who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the
grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our
Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 1:3-4 King James Version - KJV)
Well, it isn’t rocket science, and doesn’t take a college
degree to see why so many people avoid the book of Jude, it simply is not
politically correct at any point! But it is the Word of God, and we need to
allow the complete council of the Word to penetrate our hearts, and change our
lives, and in turn, change the lives of those around us.
So here’s the deal, I’m asking you to consider committing to
what we will call “The Jude Challenge”. There are 3 basic levels of
participation I would ask you to consider:
1 – Read the entire book (it’s only 25 verses long), at
least once every week for the next month.
2 - Read the entire book (it’s only 25 verses long), at
least once every day for the next month.
3 – Do one of the above, and see if God will move you to preach,
teach or share it with someone else.
I guarantee that if you commit to one of these levels, and
act on that commitment, your life and possibly those around you, will be
forever changed.
So prayerfully consider this, and with each reading, ask the
Spirit of God to teach you; I’m in, are you?
Something to consider…..
