In Luke 11, the disciples ask Jesus to "teach them to pray", and Jesus then shows them a "Model Prayer" which contains all that is needed.
Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name (We begin with Praise and worship before and to God Almighty), Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven (we are to pray that God's will be done everywhere and always), Give us this day our daily bread (we petition God for our needs), and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us (confession and repentance), Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil (pray for God's guidance, wisdom, deliverance and power in our life), For thine is the kingdom and the power and glory forever (Praise and worship, end the same way we started).
Now there is the sinners prayer "God be merciful to me a sinner, and save me!", but as we grow in Christ, we should follow His example, always!
We may not pray these exact words, but this should be our exact model. What would possess anyone to think they can improve on the prayer Jesus modeled?
Have a blessed day....
BRO. Steve I was reading a book on prayer last night about this same important teaching of Jesus. Oh how we need him to teach us daily as we struggle through each day in our prayer time alone with Him. Thanks again for sharing this blessing
